Elephant On Dvd By schimj on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Elephant is a all-too-close to reality movie directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, My Own Private Idaho) that follows a day in the life of several high school students on what started as a day like any other, but ends trigically. The movie follows students who were planning a Columbine-like school shooting, and what drove them to their final decission. Van Sant beautifuly captures the stories of the students going through a normal day at their school, and everything that happens in the end. His shots are well made, and I feel that the tracking shots of the camo clad students hauling large duffle bags into the school is chilling and you feel like shouting to warn the characters about what is going to happen. This was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time that concearned high school students.
