If you're as serious about music as I am, then you have to be just as serious about the quality of strings you choose to use on your instrument... Before finding Elixir Strings about 10 years ago, (which at the time cost me almost $30.00 ) , I would spend about $8.00 every week or so on quality Martin or Fender strings just to keep my music sounding crisp and rich... I was at a very popular music store in Atlanta (Music City) when I first saw them and decided, "What the heck... I'll spend the extra this once just to see how well they perform..." And to my surprise, they surpassed any and all expectations I ever dreamed of !!!
I think I left the first set on my Washburn a little over four months before I started noticing they were getting a little dull sounding... But you have to understand... I was playing a couple of hours every single day at the minimum !!! I had no concept of why these strings kept their tone and quality for such a long period of time, with an added feature... They never rusted !!! All I knew was, these were the greatest strings I had ever tried !!! ( I later found out these strings were coated with either Nanoweb or Polyweb technology... )
I started asking for them in my local music store, but it took me a couple of years to convince them to keep these in stock because they were so expensive and the guy that owned the place feared not being able to sell them to the "average customers" to recoupe his investment... Or maybe it was the fact that he would only get to sell me a set of strings every three or four months instead of ever week or two... It really didn't matter to me wheather he stocked them or not... Needless to say...I just bought my strings from stores that did carry them, and told everyone I, what an incredible set of strings Elixirs' are...
Now that I look back, I was buying a set every 4 months the first couple of years... Which in turn saved me about $180.00 anually on strings alone!!! And over time, you would think the price of these jewels would have gone up, when in fact, the price has been cut by 50% !!! What I started buying for $27.95 plus tax some ten years ago has dropped to a very reasonable $13.95 plus tax !!! Which in turn has doubled my savings !!! I play really hard at times on certain songs(its just my style)... But ever since I started useing Elixir Strings ... (I have yet to break the first string...which means no down-time replaceing a string in the middle of a music set...)
It really doesn't matter if you use their Nanoweb Accoustic Strings ( for bright, crisp leads) ... or their Polyweb Accoustic Strings ( for rich, smooth blending rhythms) ... Either one you choose is soon to be your favorite... Thats why you never see me play with anything else !!! A serious string... for the serious musician...

I remember when I was going to buy them a few years ago and they were really expensive... I haven't checked the price lately, I just buy Fender strings, I'll definitely have to give these a try.
