Ella Fitzgerald The Best Of The Songbooks By May Monten on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I recently became interested in jazz singers. I got this CD out of the library. It's wonderful! Ella's voice is like warm honey.

My favorite tracks are The Lady is a Tramp; Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered; They Can't Take That Away from Me; and I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.

I'm not any kind of expert in jazz -- I just like it, mostly from having heard it in cafes. The songs on this CD are totally accessible; I enjoyed them on the first hearing. They also have staying power; I listened to them many times without getting tired of them.

Ella is amazing. Offhand, I can't think of any contemporary female vocalist who even comes close. I strongly recommend this CD for anyone who likes -- or who thinks they might like -- the music of her era.
