By uaezarb onI recommend EmigrantDirect.com.When I signed up I was able to open my account with only $1.00 because there are no minimums.I have not had to pay any hidden fees, penalties or service charge.The account is linked to my personal bank account so that I can transfer money back and forth between accounts.My account is online, so I have acces 24/7 to do my banking.The account is FDIC insured.Right now my American Dream savings account is getting 4.05% annual percentage rate.The rate is flexible, but it is usually one of the highest rates available.I like the flexabilty of being able to keep as much or as little in the account as I want.I was tired of having my money only earn less than 1% in my personal bank account, so I'm glad I switched to Emigrant Direct.

Thank you! I am very interested in how these virtual bank accounts works. I have to admit that I am leery of an account that I can not open in a building... but with the interest rates being so much better and with the FDIC insurance I may have to eventually give... Thanks for the info!
