Enfamil Lipil with Iron
By Tamika Logan onMy first experience with the Enfamil brand of formula began 8 years. I was pleased with the product and was looking forward to using the formula once again with my second child. I thought that I could trust the quality of this well known maker of infant formula. My conclusions would soon prove to be very costly and wrong!
Although I like the layout of the package, it's the contnets inside that count. I am a fan of powdered formula because of the convenince and the price. I found Enfamil powder to be extremely clumpy when preparing larger quantities such as 6-8 ounces. At first, I thought it could be the humidity. I live in NC and sometimes the weather can quickly take it's toll on shelf stable items. I gave the formula many other opportunites to win back my loyalty.
I eventually switched to a store brand infant powder and have not had the problem of the clumpy powder. Switching actually made me see another negative attribute of Enfamil powder. A scoop is packaged with powdered infant formula for easy measuring. The scoop included in Enfamil is placed inside the powder making it difficult to retreive. The lesser priced powder features a plastic liner with the scoop attached.
No more digging around for a scoop of clumpy powder for me!

Yeah, the Enfamil is really clumpy. I'm surprised the regular Lipil was, though, because it never was for me. I found that the less lactose the milk-based ones had, the more they were prone to being clumpy. Fortunately my first can had the scoop on the top. When I got the second can there was no scoop in sight and I'd assumed it'd been forgotten, so I used the old one (I'd washed and dried it for a Christmas gift idea I'd had and was planning on collecting them) and didn't find the new one until I was nearly to the bottom of the can. Now I have a whole gallon ziplock bag full of scoops for mugs of cocoa =D
How strange..we currently use the Enfamil and I have never had a clumpy problem...it's always dry, fine powder...
