'English Lakes' On My Plate.. By edev5 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I got this plate from my hubby's worker's wife on my birthday last year. She said that this plate was antique (but she didn't say the year of the making). The diameter of this plate is 20cm, a quite large plate. The dominant color is dark blue, and it's painted with beautiful scenery of ‘English Lakes' (a painting depicted English Lakes from Anglo Normands era). The edges are ornamented with vines and fruits paintings, like cherries, strawberries, guavas and grapes. The ‘English Lakes' painting depicts a house at the lake bank, and there is a sailboat coming towards it and mountains behind it. The house has some kind of old forts next to it. At the back of the plate, there is a writing piece indicating the title of the painting, ‘English Lakes', and the time period, Anglo Normands. When I first saw it, I immediately admired it. I rarely use this plate, and just keep it instead because I don't want to ruin this beautiful piece. Hmm... This is REALLY a beautiful piece!
