Epsom Salt By Swan By Karen on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I hope I chose the right category for this, because I really wasn't sure where to put it.

I have a small 1 lb carton of Epsom Salt which I occasionally use for sprains and bruises. Two cupfuls of Epsom Salt per gallon of warm water makes a soothing compress. Epsom Salt is also good for relief of occasional constipation, but I haven't used it for this purpose so I really can't state how effective it is. I like the larger size carton (like what I have pictured) but unfortunately Walmart doesn't seem to be carrying that size right now, so I've been settling for the smaller carton.

I have a strained shoulder right now, and occasionally a warm compress of Epsom Salt will help to give temporary relief. It takes a little bit longer to use a soak of Epsom Salt than to just rub a cream into my strains and sprains, so I only use the Epsom Salt occasionally, but I like having it on hand for those times when I do need it.

Epsom Salt can be used as a soak (such as a foot soak), in the bath, or as a compress. For bruising, sprains or as a laxative, you might want to give Epsom Salt a try.
