Equate Chlortabs

While in college several years ago a fellow student told me about an antihistamine called chlorpheniramine maleate. I tried this small yellow tablet and felt a lot of relief.
While in Wal-Mart I found I could buy chlorpheniramine maleate by itself so I bought their brand. This way I take only what I want not what allergy companies want to mix together with the chlorpheniramine maleate and then advertise under some pricey allergy medicine label.
Equate Chlortabs have 4 mg chlorpheniramine maleate and are advertised to last four hours. This medicine is good for runny and itchy noses, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes.
WARNING: As usual DO NOT give this to a child under 6 years of age with out consulting a physician and do not take this if your pregnant with out consulting a doctor. Follow all directions on the bottle and the box that it comes in especially the warnings and dosage amounts.
WARNING: This medicine makes a lot of people drowsy.
Update On Aug 10, 2009: Someone commented on this product raising one's blood pressure. That is correct which is why I say read all warnings on the box when I do reviews about medicines. With high blood pressure especially you need to consult a doctor about what over the counter medicines cause blood pressure to rise especially before taking cold medicines and allergy pills.
I'll definitely have to keep this in mind when allergy season comes around again - thanks for the info, great to know.

Sounds good but just an FYI - most of these medications can cause your blood pressure to rise. I like the Equate brand and buy it often in many kinds of products.
I take two of these every am w/ generic Zyrtec. The chlortabs work within 20 minutes. They get me thru until the other kicks in.
Will be putting this in my list.
I have been looking for some good allergy medicine. I have allergies pretty bad. I will buy some of this and see how well it works for me. I hope it works I really need some relief from these allergies.
Sounds good. I like that you can take only the medication that you need.
I did end up purchasing these and they are indeed very good. Glad I read this review when I did. :)
