Equate Medicated Rub medicated cold medicine

Ever since I was a little girl my mother has rubbed some brand of medicated chest rub on my chest and under my nose when I had a cold.Each night during my cold before she tucked me in bed she would lather up my chest with this and put a little on my upper lip under my nose to help me sleep better, because I could breath better.By morning I would feel better because I was able to get a good nights sleep.I have continued this tradition with my own kids as well as myself as an adult.I have also used this on my husband who never had this done as a child and he seems to think it helps with the cold also.I have used several of these more expensive products and have found the equate generic brand works just as well but for much less money.
