Equate Sterile Eye Drops By Willow on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Equate Sterile Eye Drops is an inexpensive, over-the-counter eye medication. It is said to temporarily relieve redness caused by minor eye irritation. The active ingredient is Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride (0.05%). The affected eye is to be treated up to four times a day by instilling 1-2 drops. The directions on the box advise to stop usage and contact a doctor if the symptoms persist more than 72 hours.
The eyedrops are said to "work immediately," but in my experience, they do not help much. Unless it is a very, very minor eye irritation, applying them makes no difference. I have used them for several days and then ended up having to look for a better medication.
I keep the little bottle I'd bought around, but I only use these drops for dry eyes. That's all they do - moisten and perhaps disinfect the eye, nothing more.

Probably this just moistens to relieve irritation from dry eyes. If it's just sterile, it probably has no medication in it.
Most eye drops I am using are just like this brand, disinfectants only but not relieving the dryness at all. thanks for that honest info,
Too bad they didn't work that well. Thanks for sharing.
