Purchased at: Best Buy     Price: $60.00 USD

Here's a product that everyone should have but will hopefully never have to use!We often don't like to think of preparing for an emergency, but with all of the natural disasters that are occurring these days, it's almost silly not to.

I had some gift cards to Best Buy, and the idea of a radio had been a topic discussed by my husband and I in the past.We really wanted a small radio that we could take camping with us.We have a larger one that is also a cd player, but it eats batteries and is cumbersome to carry. After looking over our options, we decided to get an emergency radio.

We chose the FR400 model because it is water resistant.Like most of the Eton radios, it receives AM, FM, and weather bands, has multiple power sources (including a hand crank, which is a huge selling point to me), and has an emergency siren, flashing beacon, and flashlight. You can also use the hand crank to charge a cell phone (although you do need to register your product online in order to receive the correct cell phone adapter tip and charging cord).

This thing is built like a little tank, and even came with a nice carrying case!I am very impressed by the quality, and we are thinking of purchasing additional ones to keep in our vehicles. We are also considering them as gifts for our family (it would make a great gift for the person that has everything).

Although $60 is a lot to spend for something you don't plan on using that often, I am confident that this little radio really would serve its purpose in an emergency, which makes it worth every penny!

We have a flashlight similar to this. It's a great idea, but like you said, nobody ever thinks of needing one- but everyone should have one! :)
