Evan Almighty
By Rancosto on"Evan Almighty" has been also referred to as "Bruce Almighty-2." However, it is not exactly a sequel to the 2003 release with Jim Carrey, although the story has a similar premise. God (Morgan Freeman) appears to a man once again. Except for that, there is no connection with "Bruce," and I think it's a very good idea: trying to come up with another Bruce story would have been a stretch. This time, the Creator has chosen Evan Baxter (Steve Carell), a newsman recently elected to Congress and eager to "change the world." God is here to help him to do just that - through building an ark and filling it up with animals, like Noah did.
Understandably reluctant at first, Evan starts working on the assignment. That includes, of course, explaining his actions to his wife and kids and fellow politicians, which provides plenty of awkward fun. More is added as animals start showing up. Another oddly appealing moment is that Evan's appearance changes as he continues his work, he begins to look more like an Old Testament figure, with white hair & beard, robe and all.
The movie is smart and funny, without any disrespect to God or religion. Unlike "Bruce Almighty," Evan can be safely watched as a family, and it will give many good ideas for spiritual discussion.

Good summary of a great family movie :0)
Movie could have been better, but it was good none the less
I hadn't been to sure about this one. I think I might give it a watch now though. thanks! Good write
I've watched this movie and the story is really good.
Actually Evan Baxter was the anchor man in the Bruce Almighty Movie. He has the position that Bruce wants, an anchorman. The arc and stuff in Evan Baxter is cool however, I guess the story needs more cheese but is good anyhow.
