Expensive dance pad, but worth it
By kaytidawg onThe Red Octane 2.0 dance pad is a million times better than the dance pads that come packaged with the Dance Dance Revolution video games. Whenever I played with one of those pads, I would end up sliding all over the place with the pad folding up underneath me. Also, one of the buttons would inevitably quit working after about a month.
This pad is different because it has foam inserts that zip into the pad. They remind me of the foam blocks I played with when I was in preschool and I wanted to build a house. These inserts make the pad a lot more stable, and it's also thicker so it's easier on your floor.
The buttons also have a layer of plastic under them, which I think makes it much easier to tell you are stepping in the right place without having to look down at your feet.
I've had this dance pad for over a year and the buttons still work like new. This pad is more expensive than others, but it is definitely worth it since it lasts a lot longer. The only downside is you have to buy a different pad for each console you want to use since they all use different connectors. This one works with the Xbox but not the 360.

Dance Dance Revolution is such a great workout-this sounds even better & I'm glad you compared both!!
You did a great job explaining your experience with this product. Great pros and cons!
I have friends who play DDR just about constantly. So I understand everything you are saying about this pad. Sounds great!
Ok, you had me all excited until I got to the very last sentence...not for the Xbox 360. Waaaaaa, that is what we have :0(
Darn, my kids have the 360* :( but I got tickled at your comment..my thoughts were the same about the pre school blocks ;)
