Expose Yourself To Art By sizwizz on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
This is my all time favorite poster!! The man "flashing" the statue is a man by the name of, J.E. "Bud" Clark. He is a restaurateur, and owner of a business by the name of the Goose Hollow Inn. The bar/restaurant is located in the heart Portland, Oregon, and they claim to have "the best Reuben on the West Coast".
The great part about the man in the poster, is that he was elected as the 44th Mayor of the city of Portland! Of course, long before he ran for mayor, he "exposed" himself to the statue in the park. After he became Mayor, the poster became a huge hit, and Bud Clark was interviewed by many major newspapers, and magazines, and even appeared on a popular late night TV program.
Whether or not you liked his style of politics, he was a man that you just had to like! With his unique cry of, "Whoop-Whoop", and commuting around the city by bicycle, he will always be remembered for his eccentricities.
If you want more info about the poster, here is a link to the photographer's story. http://www.errolgraphics.com/pages/exposestory.html

What an interesting background to this poster! Bud must have been one of those beloved eccentrics that can so enrich peoples lives.
LOL!! :) :) That's quite a story, thanks for sharing!
Too funny! I love the background story.
My husband and I found this on a t-shirt once and actually bought it for his GRANDMOTHER--she's an eccentric sort as well. :P Interesting history behind it. Thanks.
I LOVE this poster!!! I loved reading the story behind the poster as well!
Well done! Imagine how great things would be if other officials would have a touch of this fellows eccentricities :) Obviously a lot of people thought he was doing a fine job. Thanks for this and the story behind it.
