Extra Traction For Those Icy Winters!!! By Maliki2 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I live in Vermont and most people live by their snow tires. I never had snow tires always going with All Seasons. My current AS tires were getting low on tread and I would spin just getting out of the driveway.
With my new job being in the mountains and very low plow coverage I decided to dip in and get me a set of snow tires. The price ranges are very high to high. I took a look at the General Altimax Artic Tire from Tirerack. The price was about $99 a tire with shipping. My tires are 205/55/16s.
The reviews looked good so I bought them and had them shipped to me. The first thing I noticed on these tires was the size and pattern of the tread itself. I haven't had winter tires so I was surprised to see how deep they seemed to be. I got them mounted and balanced and off I went. Through the first few days of testing these tires in snow and ice, I haven't seen my tires spin once. The tread wear seems to be pretty good as well. My dealer inflated to 30 psi but they list 44 psi max. I may add some more as my tires seem a little soft.
If your looking for a good winter tire and don't want to spend alot check out these tires they run well in icy/snowy conditions!

These look like great tires - I bet you don't have any problems with traction this winter season! You'll have to give an update come spring. (o:
