Reed Richards and Sue Storm are planning their wedding. A new enemy, Galactus, has sent the Silver Surfer to Earth to prepare for his arrival. Victor Von Doom has made his return and wants to use the Silver Surfer's board for his own purposes. The Fantastic Four must combine all of their powers to stop Dr. Doom and help the Silver Surfer to defeat Galactus and save Earth.

This is a fitting sequel to the first movie. It has a simple, engaging story, humor, great action sequences, superb special effects, a great new super villain, and the return of an old enemy. It is a fun and action-packed film, which gives us an entertaining 90 minutes.

The writer says that the story is based on issues #48 and #57-#60 of the Fantastic Four comic book, Some iberties have been made in regards to the surfer and the source of his powers. We do not get to actually see Galactus' face or body. He is shown as a shadow and a moving mass of clouds.

The cast is great as always. You can expect fun, likable characters and a fun dialogue. Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm) steals the show with his sarcastic comments. Some of the scenes between him and Chris Evans (Johnny Storm) are hilarious. Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards) is a serious character. The beautiful Jessica Alba (Sue Storm) offers a woman's touch. Julian McMahon (Victor Von Doom) is a corny but aren't all comic super villains?

New in this sequel is the Silver Surfer, who is voiced by Laurence Fishburne. His body is CGI over a real body, which looks exactly as he should and Fishburne provides the perfect calm and powerful voice.

The special effects are all fantastic. The FF4 aircraft is just great. The Silver Surfer and The Human Torch effects are the highlights. Mr. Fantastic's SFX are next in line. The Thing's costume is not perfect but it works fine here. The rest of the SFX are good and not really cheesy.

Rise of the Silver Surfer is a fun time killer that should entertain most viewers, especially kids.
