By Bosoxy onI have a family member who needed a replacement pair of glasses. Coincidentally I had recently been hearing some very good things about 39dollarglasses.com.
While it is difficult to gauge the quality of a product online, the prices were incredible, plus I had a $10 discount coupon That was enough to get me to try this company.
When browsing through the glasses I noticed that they have a way to virtually fit the glasses to a face that ended up being pretty accurate. When clicking into a particular glasses style there is a picture of a person on the right side of the page. Below the picture are shapes in boxes of pink, for females, and blue, for males. By clicking on a blue box with a square shape a photo of a man with a square shaped face wearing those exact glasses will appear. This photo allowed me to see approximately how the glasses would look on my family member.
I selected the Boston style frames.
The lenses come with UV and scratch resistant coatings, however additional coatings may be added.I was looking for sunglasses and selected the CR-39 tinted sun lenses, at the darkest tint level offered. The price for this option was an additional $9.95 on top of the lenses price of $39. I was then offered the option to chose between several colors of tint; brown, gray, green, blue, rose, orange or yellow. There is an option available to see what the different colors would look like in the frames. After trying all of the colors, I chose blue.
Then I could chose between the included hard clamshell glasses case or upgrade to one of several cool looking cases for an additional $4.95. I decided to go with the basic clamshell case.
Within a week of checking out on 39dollarglasses.com the glasses that I chose arrived. They were packed very nicely inside a micro fiber polishing pouch placed inside the clamshell case.
The lenses were nicely polished and the frames were of very nice quality, much nicer than I would have imagined. The fit was PERFECT! The glasses sat nice, felt nice and were at the correct strength, as ordered.
The average retail of the glasses that I purchased was listed at $234.95. Although I cannot say if this would be the price that these glasses would be sold for elsewhere, I can say that the quality of the glasses and lenses far exceeded the price that I was charged, which was $44.90 after discounts and including shipping. Can you believe it?!?!
I will purchase these or another type glasses at 39dollarglasses.com in the future, for sure.

Lucky you can find specs online. This is definitely a big NO NO for me since my eyes are too sensitive, a small degrees difference will make me giddy already. Glad that you are not like me. Thanks for sharing the info.
I am going to suggest this to my mother in law! She is constantly loosing her glasses and breaking them and they are on a set income..this could be very helpful!

Pretty amazing. But I think glasses are very overpriced given the ease with which lenses can now be ground.
