Fear Factory Obsolete. The Metal Album. By Nicholas Harrell on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Picking up this album back in 98 after a friend's suggestion, and sitting down with it, I can say that this album is what got me into heavy music. Burton's growling vocals and dino's tuned down 7 string guitar is the ultimate gateway to people looking for something beyond the average hard rock genre. This album is a concept album. Meaning it tells a story with its songs and liner notes. Telling a story about how machines are becoming the leaders and rising up against man. Stand out tracks like Shock, EdgeCrusher, and Ressurrection should really be checked out by everyone. I personally loved this album to death though, and made me rush right out and check out the rest of their discography. Burton's vocals soothe when he does melodic singing, and pump you up when he full out screams. A landmark album for this band.
