This cheap shredder may only cost $50, but it outperforms other shredders in the price range and will serve you well as long as you're not a secretary in an office shredding paper all day. This shredder is best for personal or home-office use.

Unlike many other shredders at this price range, this shredder cross-shreds. Most only shred paper into strips, which given enough time someone can piece together vital info with the strips. It's much harder to piece together cross-stripped paper. Credit cards? No problem. Many cheap shredders cannot touch credit cards but this shredder just shredded them with no hesitation. The speed is decent for home use as long as you don't need to immediately dispose of a few hundred sheets of paper at once. There is no maintenance as far as I know aside from making sure there's no paper jammed in the blades. This shredder will last you for a long time and is very useful for a "cheap" shredder.
