Fiber One Oats Chocolate Bars By wendywr on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Concerned about my fiber intake, and wanting to find a good granola bar for an on-the-go quick and easy breakfast, I decided to try Fiber One's Oats and Chocolate bars. I could get a fantastic deal at Costco for them.

Each bar has 140 calories, and 10 (!!!!) grams of fiber.

The bars taste really, really good. There's a couple of hard bits in them, but really, it's almost as good as a candy bar, but at a fraction of the calories, and way more fiber.

Now, for the down side. All that fiber, particularly if it comes primarily from chiccory root, can have a very interesting intestional effect. Yes, it made me very regular, which was nice. However, they make all users that I've talked to EXTREMELY gassy. Like, maybe you shouldn't eat them if you will be interacting with the public gassy. If you are going to be around a bunch of small children who think loud, resonant farts are hysterically funny, this is definitely the breakfast of champions. If you work in a quiet, yet filled with people environment, not so much.

I know the gas jokes are a bit over the top, but here's one more. We affectionately call these bars the "Farty One Bars".

We do always keep them in the house, as our whole family loves to eat them. We just are a little cautious about when we eat them, as we don't want to embarrass ourselves.
