Filtrete Air Cleaning Filter
By donnabc onAll you tight wads out there, I can here you now "$20 for a filter..that's insane!"But, let me tell you (one penny pincher to another), it is worth EVERY PENNY!
Both my son and I have horrible allegies. We both actually should be on allergy shots but I am avoiding that like the plague.Five years ago a poorly supervised nursing student gave me about 100 x the amount of allergen in my shot resulting in some pretty serious problems. But, don't get me started on that one.
Anyway, to keep the pollen count down in our house, I buy Filtrete Maximum Allergen filters.Don't be confused by their other filters, this one filters 93% of allergens while the ones that cost less filter less as well.Basically you get what you pay for.
These filters come in all sizes and the price is surprisingly the same whether you are getting a 14 x 14 inch or 14 x 24 inch filter. These filters REALLY work though! Not only does it help our allergies, as an added plus, I don't have to dust nearly as often:0)

My son and husband have really bad allergies. Maybe we need to try these.
If I may ask where do you put these filters? My daughter in law suffers with allergies and is allergic to cat dander. Yikes! The nursing student gave you 100x the allergen, I can just imagine the after effects. It is well worth the $20 for the filter if it helps both your son and you. Excellent details about the filter, all I want to know if where they go. Great job!
Girl, $20 for a filter is WORTH it!! We too use these because we all suffer from allergies! We stock up on these from Target when they're on sale & when we get coupons!! Thank you for sharing this with us!
A $20 air filter is cheaper than having to buy a separate purifying unit... and it's great to know that they work! Thanks for sharing your experience with this product!
Great idea for those with allergies! I'll have to mention these filters to some of my cousins who suffer horribly. Thank you for sharing!
My daughter has bad allergies. These filters are just what she needs. Thanks for sharing this information.
Seriously, could you hear me? LOL I was thinking it too! This sounds like it's well worth the money if it dramatically helps with your allergies. I think not having to dust as much would be a great bonus! This maybe too expensive for the average home owner but for someone who's health depends on clean air...it's perfect!
$20.00 or not I need these right now. The pollen count here in Atlanta today was over 2800. According to the allergy institute any pollen count over 200 yes 200 is extreme. If anything over 200 is extreme then I guess today at 2800 would be considered deadly!. I don't have allergies but I still feel it on days like today and even with the doors and the windows closed, we still have a yellow dust in the house from bringing it in on our clothes and shoes.
