I am a weather fanatic, and this First Alert weather radio is one of my favorite devices to have around. It monitors your local NOAA weather radio bands, and will let you know about watches, warnings or advisories that are issued for your area. You will find out the latest about severe thunderstorm, hurricane, flood and winter weather hazards where you live. It will automatically sound a loud siren if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued. This is crucial for when severe weather conditions approach in the middle of the night. It comes with an AC adapter which it runs off of all of the time, and has battery back-up if the power goes out during a storm. Overall, it pulls in reception very well. This unit can be mounted on the wall if you prefer to do so. For just over forty bucks, it is worth it to keep you and your family safe, and is an essential tool for all of you "weather nuts" to have.
