Fisher Price Fun To Learn Potty
By peytonshea02 onWhen my husband and I saw this potty seat, it actually inspired us to get serious about training our son. It looked like it would be so much fun and would be the perfect potty seat to motivate him. Well we were right in that he loved all the bells and whistles that this potty seat comes with. It plays fun sones, has a talking lid and singing toilet paper and the toilet 'flushes' when you use the handle.
The problem with this is that my son really saw this as a toy, rather than a potty! He loved playing with it, putting all his stuffed animals on it etc... but he never took it 'seriously' (for lack of a better word).
And a couple of times when we did get him to sit on it, the potty 'sensors' rewarded him with a "You did it!!"...but he didn't!
I do think that it helped in that it made him less initimidated by the whole 'potty process' but his actual potty training came with a simple basic potty that he knew had one purpose only!

This is so cute! I can see what the attraction was , but honestly it looks like it's too busy. By that I mean that the focus is on all the bells and whistles and not on the job at hand. Funny how it said he did it when he didn't! Sometimes simple is better.
Awe, how cute is that! A minature, colorful potty:0) I can see how your son would take it for a toy though. Oh well, at least he was not intimidated by the toilet...mine thought he would be sucked away when he flushed, LOL.
This is the first potty seat that I have seen that looks like an actual toilet. I think if we had something like this rather than the box with the hole in it, my son would have used it more, thanks.
What will they think of next lol Too Cute. But goes to show you that plain is better.
I agree... I'm not sure that having all the bells and whistles really accomplishes what is intended.
Sometimes the bells and whistles just are not necessary in potty training-it's a great concept though!!
