Reviewing: Mattel Flippin' Frogs Game
Purchased at: Toys R Us     Price: $24.99 USD

I took my 6 year old son shopping at Toys R Us to spend his birthday money and he purchased this game. It is regularly $24.99, however, we bought it on sale for $16.99. Just a note, this game is not worth $25.

Set up was pretty simple. You snap the tree trunk into the base, snap on tree limbs & tree top, insert batteries, and it's ready to go.

To start each player gets a frog flipper and 6 of the same colored frogs. You push the tree trunk down, turn the switch for the timer on and you get about 45 seconds to try and flip frogs onto the tree. When time is up, the tree pops up and whoever has the most frogs left on the tree wins. It's a simple game with simple rules.

The problem with the game is that it is nearly impossible to actually get a frog on the tree. They're really fun to flip, but they fly all over the place & if one lands on the tree, it usually falls off as soon as the tree pops.

We have a lot of fun with it, but there's really no way we can play by the rules because at the end of the game, nobody has frogs on the tree.

LOL. Fun but no way to win. Sounds like life in general.

For this we need batteries?! What happened to tiddlywinks? Looks cute, but thanks for the good assessment.

I've heard my 6 year old mention this game but I never knew what it was. From your discription of it, it does not sound like a game I think he would enjoy. Thank you for helping me to same some money seeing how games are so expensive these days.

Sounds like it would be a frustrating game for younger kids when the frogs don't stay on the tree!

If they are going to make games for kids they should make them able to won or played with some degree of ease. This would have frustrated my kids and made them not want to play it. Thanks for sharing this information.

never heard of this game but I can understand how it wouldn't work very good. My son had a game sort of like this, where you had to flip the frog onto an area. The frogs always over shot the area but it was really fun flipping the frogs! :)

That's too funny that the frogs don't even get in the trees! It still sounds like a riot to play!

I think my kids would have been frusted with this game. They've had games like this before that didn't work the way they were suppose to.
