I've been a Bank of Montreal (BMO) Gold Airmiles card holder for about 2 years now, let me tell you why I upgraded to the Gold Airmiles plan!
I am an avid Airmiles collector. The Gold Airmiles MasterCard gives you 1 Airmile for every $15 spent on the card. You are also able to double-dip if you shop at an Arimiles sponsor, present your Airmiles collector card and pay for the purchase using your BMO Gold Airmiles MasterCard! I've been able to accululate a lot of airmiles this way. In addition to double dipping, you can also automatically get double Airmiles when you use your Gold Aurmiles MasterCard at Shell, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car. They also have a signing bonus of 150 Airmiles for your first purchase. You also get a 25% Airmiles flight redemption discount when redeeming your Airmiles for flights. This is a new bonus due to the fact the WestJet decided not to renew their sponsorship/partnership with Loyalty Management Group (they own Airmiles) and Bank of Montreal last year.
There is an annual fee of $99 for this card. If you decide to carry a balance, the interest rate is 19.5% but for an additional $35 a year you could lower your rate to 11.9%.You also have a 21 day grace period.
