Folding Wheelbarrow Fails To Deliver By JPnMO on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I'm often amazed at the ideas for products that people come up with. Such was my reaction when I discovered a folding wheelbarrow. What a great idea! Wheelbarrows are big and heavy, even when empty, so the idea of a lightweight one was great.
Besides the ease of use, the best feature for me is that it folds for storage. How nice to be able to use a big item, then fold it and have it out of the way until needed again. It's a breeze to close when you are finished. There are no frustrating brackets or knobs to deal with.
The wheelbarrow is made of a nylon fabric that is water resistant and supposed to be able to carry up to 125 lbs. The dimensions are 49x24x11. The frame is sturdy and the handles are comfortable. It's easy to maneuver from place to place and the weight is about 10 lbs., which makes it easy for hanging on a wall to save space.
My main use for this was to carry potting soil and plants around the yard instead of making several trips or carrying heavy bags by hand. This was so much easier and at first, it was great. However, it didn't last.
The problem with this product is that it tears at the seams. I think the claims of holding 125 lbs. is way beyond what it can handle. What I used it for was nowhere near that weight and it still came apart.
In general, this is an awesome idea, but as of now, it doesn't live up to the claims.
I still love the idea of this product. I've seen another brand that is similar, but the fabric appeared to be about the same. This would be fine for light use, but don't consider it if you are carrying items with much weight.
Rumford Folding Wheelbarrow Purchased at: local garden shop Price: $40.00

it looks expensive when compare to the usefulness. it should not tear but cloth bound to tear apart with time. i think its better to buy normal ones but the storage will always be a problem.
