Reviewing: Free Style Freedom (Abbott) Glucose Monitoring System

At one time I was taking a medication that can affect your blood sugar levels so my doctor wanted me to monitor my blood glucose levels while I was taking it.Thankfully she gave me a monitor she had so I didn't have to purchase one.She gave me the FreeStyle Freedom glucose monitor, including FreeStyle test strips.

This was the first time I had ever used anything like this and I must say it was very easy to do.The monitor itself is small, but with a large, easy to read display screen. It says you can use your finger, forearm, upper arm, hand, thigh or calf for your testing sites. It claims to be the "world's smallest blood sample" since it only needs 0.3 microliters, where other monitors need one or four microliters. The test time is an average of five seconds so you receive your results right away.

Some of the other helpful features include: a memory capacity of up to 250 readings with dates and times, a 14-day result average, four programmable alarms to remind you when to test, automatic shutoff after two minutes and an option to download results onto your computer.

If you ever need to monitor your blood glucose level I recommend you give the FreeStyle Freedom monitor a try!

This would be really good for my grandpa, he has such a hard time seeing the read out on his current glucose meter! I love the large display - thanks for adding the photos so we could see it ourselves :)

I love that the readout is big so you don't have to put on your glasses to see it!
