If you live in a cold climate, this is the jacket for you. The Bean's Warm Up Jacket by L.L. Bean is one of the best I've had in awhile. Not only will this jacket keep you warm but it also will keep you dry. There is a water-resistant nylon shell that will protect you from rain and wind. The insides of the jacket is lined with soft polyester fleece which will keep you very warm and toasty in the cold weather. The inside material is called Thinsulate which is not as bulky as other items. I purchased this item for a trip to Maine last year during winter. It was easy to pack in my suitcase because it wasn't very big. Even though it's not bulky it provides you with the warmth a big jacket would. I would check this out if you get a chance, you won't regret it.
