Friday The 13th By luvthatmouse on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Friday The 13th came out in 1980 and is considered a horror classic. The film made $39,754,601 and had a budget of $550,000 so it was a big hit at the time. It was shot at a camp in New Jersey that is still around today! The horror makeup/effects are very good for the time and were done by Tom Savini who also worked on "Dawn of The Dead." The movie is more slow moving and suspensful than most horror movies today. It is about a group of camp counselors and the owner opening Camp Crystal Lake back up after 20 years of closure. They are warned that the camp has a "death curse" byt the local residents and to just leave. The have been several deaths at the camp in the past. The day the movie is taking place on is Friday the 13th. Worth watching if you like horror movies! I am a big fan of horror makeup and FX and this movie was ahead of its time for makeup! Very real looking. 95 minutes. Rated R for violence, adult content and drug use.
