Finally, a kitchen appliance that really is easy to clean. I recently bought a new ceramic-glass top cookstove and I must say I absolutely love it. I bought a Frigidaire at Lowes for about $600. I have had it only a few weeks and already it has been worth every penny. The flat top cook surface makes for a always level pan or pot and less chance of fire by spilled or boiled over oil. Of course, it is a stove and produces lots of heat so you still have to be careful but since any boil over never actually comes in contact with the heating element there is less chance of fire. At least that is the way I see it. The clean up is amazing too. Because there are no crevices or openings for food or oil to drip into you basically just wipe it clean. Well, you are supposed to use a special cook top creme like cleaner but, still, it is much faster and easier to clean than regular stove tops. You will need flat bottomed cookware so you might just have an excuse to get new pots and pans also. The model I bought has several settings between HIGH and LOW heat so it has been easy to get just the right amount of heat for various foods from scrambled eggs to gravy. I have had a little trouble figuring out the oven timer and how it works but that is probably just me. I really love this stove and would recommend it to anyone who likes to cook without having to spend more time cleaning than cooking.
After well over a year my ceramic top has developed a problem that has nothing to do with how well it functions but it is annoying non the less. The oven handle keeps coming loose on one side or the other. My husband has easily fixed it each time but it appears that the screws that hold the handle to the door are not long enough and over time they worked loose.
After almost three years my stove top is almost as clean and shiny as the day I bought it. I can't express enough how much I love this stove! It is so easy to keep clean! Of course, you still have to clean it after every use but it is so much easier than having to deal with spilled residue under burners. I highly recommend this stove!

I have friends who really like theirs, but I just really like a gas flame. Don't think I could adapt too well.
