From Curly To Straight! By msculit on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I was born with a straight hair but eventually turned curly when I got older. I guess I have bad hair days like forever! My hairstyle has always been either on a bun or tied pony-tail style and my family and friends are already getting "bored" with my look, and I do too =) I had rebond session before here in Dubai but was very disappointed with the outcome because it was supposed to straighten my hair but it did the reverse! It took me years to grow my natural hair back after wasting money for the initial rebond mistake!

I was adamant to go to David's Salon for a new rebond session but have heard good reviews from many sources and friends who have tried their services and their hair had remained straight for a year or so, depending on the lenght. So, after a long and thoughtful time, I decided to give it a shot.

The rebonding session took almost 5 hours for a short hair like mine (almost shoulder lenght) and the price was a hefty Phil. Pesos 6,500 (yes, even with my short hair!) They used cream (but I cannot divulge what type) and I did not feel any sting unlike the first time I had rebond in Dubai from another salon. It was almost odorless. None of those chemically-induced fragrance of common hairstyling solutions used in the parlor.

The 2 attendants who rebonded me were excellent. I should give special mention to them. My hair is now straight and would have to wait for 2 more days before I could wash it. This is because the solution used to set my hair to straight has to "set" for some time and no washing, nor using hairbands and clips, no tucking under the ears kind of thing for a while. I am willing to sacrifice all those just to have a straight hair which I can just let loose.

I love my hair now!

Update Posted on :

It has been almost 2 years now and my hair has grown longer. The original length of hair that I had for rebond is still straight but the other upper half is already curly. So, my hair looks very weird. I had already chopped the rebond hair length so I am back to my natural curly roots.

I may still have a rebond in the future but for now, I am giving my hair a much needed break from any chemicals. If I had gone through the touch ups which was initially recommended to maintain the rebond, I am sure that my hair will still be straight. Nonetheless, I have enjoyed an almost 2 years of straight-hair bliss!

Ive never heard of rebonding before. Very interesting.

Hmmmm. I've never heard of rebonding but it sounds like a Brazilian Keratin Treatment that I had done a few weeks ago. I have to agree that it is great for straightening the hair, especially curly, frizzy hair.
