Our son loves animals, especially farm animals and this puzzle does not disappoint. The puzzle pieces are raised so they are easy for little hands to pick up and put back into the correct place. I like that the puzzle is made of real wood, not the cardboard that some are made of. This means it is sturdy and holds up to the wear and tear of a toddler.

Our son enjoys pointing out his favorite animals and we work on animal sounds while working the puzzle. I like that it is educational without taking away the fun. He learns fine motor skills from placing the pieces in their spot, matching, animal names & sounds, and also his colors.

Melissa & Doug has similar puzzles available with things like cars, food, shapes, jungle animals, etc. so there is plenty of variety.
