Fun, But Requires Patience By Tanya Pecora on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My daughter has received 3 sets of these beads as gifts. The first set she received when she was 5 and although she enjoyed them, she didn't have the patience. Combine that with a little brother that put everything in his mouth, and these did not get played with often. I had forgotten about them until she received 2 more sets this past Christmas. Let me tell you, now she loves them! On the container, this craft is rated age 5+, but even my 3yo enjoys them, perhaps because big sis is playing with them!

The kits consists of smallish beads in a variey of colours that are placed on pegboards. Once the child has them on the pegboard, Mom or Dad irons them to melt them into place. Once they've cooled, you can remove them from the pegboard. Each kit also comes with an idea book that kids can follow when making their creations. My kids don't bother with the books, they prefer coming up with their own masterpeices! Beacuse DS is only 3, he never winds up completeing anything, big sis usually winds up finishing it off or dumping the beads back into the container. I am finding it is great for his fine motor skill development though, so I encourage him to play with it!

All in all a great craft that I highly recommend. It has provided my kids with hours of entertainment.

Update Posted on :

My kids have also started using the beads included in these kits to make jewelery. While it's not it's intended purpose, with 3 sets and literally thousands of beads its one more way they are enjoying the set.
