Gaiam Balance Ball Chair
By crazy4disney onOk, I realize that this chair looks crazy. But, let me just tell you about it a bit before you make up your mind about it, ok.My friend's wife had numbness in her arms and legs after she had her baby a few years ago.The doctors could not figure out what happened but apparently there was some nerve damage done sometime during the delivery or pregnancy.Anyway, she sits quite a bit at her desk since she is a CPA and a physical therapy friend of hers told her to try this ball and see if it would help her.So, she got one and has been using it ever since.Basically it is like one of those exercise balls on wheels.I personally was uncomfortable sitting in it, but she has grown use to it and prefers it to any other chair now. And, interestingly enough, as long as she uses this chair at work, she does not have the numbness anylonger.I think the basic reason for the chair is to make sure you sit up with good posture...which I do not so that's probably why it was uncomfortable for me.Anyway, want to improve your posture, of if YOU have some numbness like this lady, give it a shot.

I used one while pregnant for back pain, they are great.
forcing you to stablize the core muscles, any physioball is great for stability...this ones looks good too!
If anything it looks interesting. I've had problems with numbness myself. I think I may look into this. I wonder if you can get it for a trial period. I see nspear mentioned the chair is $80, that's rather steep for me unless I could try it first. Thanks!
I can't imagine sitting on a chair all day long but I do have numbness so it might be interesting to try. A trail period would be great like for a week.
Oops I meant I can't imagine sitting on a ball all day long.
Who invented this??? lol I must admit I have heard good things about this chair. :)
I have seen these and they are kind of silly looking, but for some i guess ok.
I have no doubt that this chair is wonderful. When I was in physical therapy for a spinal cord problem my therapist told me to sit on my balance ball whenever possible, when watching tv and even when I was on the computer if I was able because it helps stabalize you and strengthens your core muscles.
I am sitting on one of those balls right now. I don't have the chair part to go with it, but would love to get one.
I would like to try one of these, even if it looks strange, as I think it could help my back muscles and improve my posture.
