Garmin Street Pilot Gps By emmoore5124 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We used this GPS on a trip from Philadelphia to Charlotte to Orlando. The unit gave good directions but I did have a few issues with it. It would lose the signal at times which isn't really very reassuring when you have no idea where you're going and you just hope that it comes back online before you make a turn. Also, at times it doesn't give you enough warning that a turn is approaching or operate at a very low volume so you wouldn't hear the instructions. I'm used to mapquest and being able to see the whole route ahead of time and being given the option to use a different route and that is not available with the GPS system. My husband uses this all the time in his work truck and loves that he finds new, more efficient ways to get to local areas. Personally I think I'll stick with mapquest.

It's interesting that you would prefer mapquest over a nearly $400 GPS unit. I can see why you would get annoyed with the couple of things that you pointed out... that would annoy me too.
