Garnier Fructis: A Great Shampoo If You Can Open The Bottle By Tina Lehman on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I am not much of a shampoo snob. I look for a good value (which is a balance between quality and price) and something that smells good. The volumizing shampoo by Garnier Fructis fits this bill well.

Overall, I liked this shampoo. It smells good and works well with my hair type. Although Garnier produces several types of shampoo, I have only tried the volumizing variety. Garnier Fructis is not the most expensive shampoo on the shelf nor is it the cheapest making it a fairly good bargain. You do not need a lot of it to form a good lather and you do not have to repeat washing your hair, so the bottle lasts a long time.

However, I will not purchase this shampoo (or its corresponding conditioner) anymore. The bottle is an ergonomic nightmare. You open the bottle by pulling up on a small plastic ball, which is impossibly slippery in the shower. To compound the problems with the difficult-to-remove lid, the bottle is tapered at the top, so it tends to slip out of your hands making shampoo application a major victory. I wrote to the company with this complaint but received nothing, which suggests the company is not as consumer-friendly as I would like. It is unfortunate, because it is a decent product with a horrible packaging design.
