Gary Yamamoto Senko Plastic Fishing Lure By fyadsep on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Gary Yamamoto "Senko" is one of the most versatile and effective lures for bass fishing today. The Senko is a plastic worm style lure that is thicker and heavier than most worm lures. It's made out of a soft plastic and salt mix. The secret to the Senko is just the right amount of salt has been added to provide enough weight to cast weightless and has a great slow falling action in the water. The subtle wiggling action in the water is very attractive to fish. There's not many situations where a bass will not eat a Senko. You can use a Senko in a variety of presentations, from weedless and weightless (using a EWG hook and texas-rigging it) to carolina-rig and dropshot. It's great for getting bass from grass patches and deep water with a carolina-rig. The only problem with the Senko is the durability is pretty poor. A Senko usually lasts one or two fish before it rips apart, and combined with the price of a pack of ten (about 7 dollars) you can run through a package pretty fast. In a way, this can be a good thing - You're catching a lot of fish!
Update: My biggest bass so far this year (8lbs) came on a 5-inch Watermelon Senko. First trip of the year, first cast :)

Never realized there was so much to catching fish. Thanks for the great information.
Wow, great job on catching that fish. Very impressive! This sounds like a really great product. If my husband ever gets into fishing I may get it for him.
An eight pound bass!!!!! Wow!! It must be this fantastic lure!!!!! Congratulations to you!!
First trip, first cast, sounds like it really works.
This sounds like a great fishing lure. Thanks for the information.
Senko worms are amazing, I've caught some big bass on these worms including a 7 pound and 5 pound bass. I like hooking them right through the middle and letting them wiggle their way down to the bottom and then giving them a little jerk and letting them sink again. Great softbait!
