We actually live over the mountain from Gatlinburg. We enjoy going there to stay over night or to spend the day there. Gatlinburg has in the past few years grown, in fact some of the people around the area refer to it as las vegas. I wouldn't go to that extreme but they do have a lot of things in common with Vegas, minus the gambling. You don't have to have travel options for this area. They do have trollys, and you can drive places if you chose, but everything is all walking distances away. Almost all of their condos or motels/hotel's are amazingly wonderful. Gatlinburg doesn't really have too much in regards to entertainment, but if you head a few miles over into Pigeon Forge it's all right there. We have never actually ate in Gatlinburg but they do have many, many selections for food.
