G Diapers The Diaper You Can Compost By kateri27 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I love to think of myself as a green mamma, but let's face it being green can be hard when it comes to diapering baby. The amount of diapers that you have to dunk and wash, and then having to bleach them, well I just wonder if I am doing any good for the environment.

In comes the worlds first and best hybrid diaper. Yes a hybrid diaper! The gDiaper is the first diaper that has a washable cotton outer diaper and a flushable, plastic-free, refill. The starter kit also contains a swish-stick which you use when you through the flushable liner in the toilet. So easy! You don't have to feel bad that you are putting a disposable diaper out in the world to sit around for 500 years to biodegrade.

The other benefit is that if baby just pees you can compost the flushable liner. It is chlorine free, breathable and will break down in your compost pile in 50-150 days. How is that for a bonus. I am an avid composter and this is the point that sold me on the gDiaper.

The gDiaper comes in three sizes, small, medium, and large. Each starter kit contains two "little g" pants that Velcro in the back so curious babies can not take them off. They come with four snap in liners and ten flush-ables that snap into place. The starter kit is a real bargain.

In the end gDiapers will cost you a little more then standard Huggies or Pampers, but think about how little waste will be going out in the environment thanks to this amazing diaper. It's all the convenience of a disposable with the environmental friendliness of a cloth diaper! I love gDiapers!

I've heard such great things about these diapers. It's nice to have another option besides cloth and disposable. Maybe we'll try then next time around.

go green mama! this is awesome. My mom used cloth diapers on me and had the tidy didy service for cleaning. She always complained about "plastic" diapers about their waste. I couldn't stand the thought of cloth diapers but now there is a great altnernative and I'd never heard of them. Thanks for sharing!

I would really love to see more people go this way re: diapers. I think I could fill an entire room with the dirty diapers my kids have generated over the past two years...and we're not done. Thanks for sharing info about this eco-friendly way of diapering your kiddos!

If I were doing a baby again (and believe me, I hope I don't!) I would use these. The diaper issue is a huge crises.
