Gears of War 2
By Willpower92 onGears of War 2, obviously a sequel to Gears of War, is by far one of the best games I've ever played. It's for the Xbox 360, rated Mature, and a third person shooter. In case your not familiar with Gears of War, I'll give a little background. You play Fenix, leader of Delta squad. Your squad consists of Dom, Cole, Baird, and a new character named Carmine. By the way, this game can be played in co-op mode, one person playing Fenix and the other playing Dom. The human race is threatened by a race of monsters that come up from beneath the planet, the Locust. Only a few human cities are left, and they face extinction. You see the picture. So lets get onto gameplay. The shooting style is a little different than most other games, but is easy to adapt to and once you get the hang of it, the style is actually better. Your player can carry four weapons: grenades, a pistol, and two guns of your choice. There are two different types of grenades, frag and poison gas. There are also lots of different types of pistols, such as a magnum. Other guns include the chain gun, which is one of the machine guns with a chainsaw attached (the chainsaw makes this gun my favorite), a rocket launcher, shotgun, and sniper rifle. There are also larger guns that the player can pick up, but these guns cause the player to run slow and he can't change weapons, otherwise he drops the gun. The two larger guns that I used the most were the gateling gun and the mortar launcher. In summary there are a large selection of guns in the gamer's arsenal. The game takes place in many different environments with beautiful graphics. Ruin cities, underground caves, long dark tunnels, abandoned complexes, and one unique place that I won't spoil for you. The computer AI is good, meaning that they can take care of themselves and sometimes they'll even save your butt (Cole does a lot). There are a couple levels where you will be driving vehicles, which is a good change and lots of fun. By the way, by vehicles I don't just mean trucks or tanks, but I won't spoil it. The game takes many hours to beat, so it's of good length. I also want to say that the difficulty settings are for just about anyone. If you want a great game, this one is it. It's storyline is dramatic, and there are plenty of challenges and fun to be had. Defiantly worth buying. Lastly, I'll warn you that once you beat this game you'll immediately want to beat it again.
