Gears of War was hyped as the second coming of Halo, another shooter that would rock the world of video games that was exclusive to the Xbox 360. Gears was released about a year after the 360's initial launch and helped flood the market with Xbox 360's because of the overwhelming success of Gears. Gears takes place in the future where the human race is on the brink of destruction because of an alien invasion called the Locust. You play Marcus Fenix and you are a renegade soldier that is brought back into the army with the hopes of destroying the Locust Horde by deploying a "resonator," in which will wipe our the Locust where they begin. The action takes place as a third person shooter and is engaging with its "stop and pop," mentality. The campaign is not very lenghty, but the game has legs with its steller online competitive and co-operative modes. Epic Games is known by supporting their games after launch, and the first map pack was free showed that. Gears still is one of the best looking games to be found for any system, and one of the best playing ones as well.
