Geometry Wars: Galaxies DS
By digbybare onI love old school arcade games. I loved the days when you couldn't "beat" a video game, you could only get a high score. Geometry Wars brings those days back in style.
Geometry wars is a mix of Asteroids and Robotron, but ramps up the intensity in almost every way. The game moves faster, and there's can be hundreds of enemies on screen at a time. By being pressured constantly from all sides, Geometry Wars becomes a pure reflex and coordination test, focusing much more on immediate tactics than overall strategy.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies introduces more gameplay elements such as Geoms and Drones. Geoms are little things the enemies drop which when collected, gives you immediate benefits such as score multipliers, and extra lives and bombs, but can also be used outside the stage to purchase more stages and more drones. Drones are little helpers that can do everything from help you attack to help you collect Geoms.
The only major complaints I have are that the DS version strips away the grid effects of the other Geometry Wars versions. It also lags when there are too many enemies on screen at a time.
