Get 'Mad' Laughs With Madtv By renae on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I'd been watching Madtv since 1996. At the time, I was a big fan of ‘In Living Color' and didn't like the thought of this new show taking its place. As a matter of fact, I hated it and hoped it would be cancelled. The popularity and the ratings proved me wrong but I still chose to not watch it. A year after the show aired, I took a look at the show and found it quite funny-- Madtv grew on me and I loved it ever since especially their original and catchy theme song. Recently I'd purchased the Madtv: The Complete First Season One on DVD. There were plenty of funny skits of movie parodies, commercials, funny animation and some of my favorite characters- The UBS guy, Vancome Lady and my all time favorite ‘show' ‘That's My White Mama'.
The cast was downright hilarious-- Debra Wilson, Nicole Sullivan, Orlando Jones, Phil Lammar, Artie Lange, David Herman, Mary Sheer and Bryan Callen. They each engaged in their characters pretty well-some examples--David Herman portraying as Wood Allen, Sheer does her best impersonation of Barbara Streisand.
The DVD consists of 19 episodes, a few unaired skits, Spy vs. Spy and bloopers. Madtv (season one) will give you a plenty of laughs and isn't so bad for a show in its first season.
