Get Those Germy Hands Away From My Baby!! By Ally on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I am a total germaphobe! When Zoe was born my skin would crawl with the thought of other people touching her. I didn't care if they had washed their hands in front of me it wasn't enough. When it came time for her baptism I couldn't even breathe thinking about everyone wanting to hold her or touch her. I wasn't sleeping and the threat of the H1N1 was enough to put me on edge. Well, my step mom had suggested having sanitizer around at the reception so people would know to have clean hands when handeling the baby. I thought this was a great idea. I didn't want to offend anyone and I also wanted to be comfortable and able to enjoy Zoe's reception. We went to Wal*Mart and we found an economy size bottle of hand sanitizer, "germ-X". The germ-X came in a pump bottle of 40 ounces. It is labeled to kill 99.99% off germs. Also the sanitizer has a vitamin E moisturiser. It mostly contains an alcohol based antiseptic. It is supposed to kill germs and bacteria within 15 seconds. I have since become a little more calm about germs. I guess these worries just come with "new mommy syndrome".

That used to bother me too when my kids were babies. I remember that strangers in the grocery store would sometimes touch my baby's hands. What a great idea to keep the hand sanitizer around for an event like the baptism.
