I had to purchase a pistol for my Deputy Sheriff position and I chose this Glock model 23 .40 caliber to be my duty weapon. I have shot it multiple times already through qualifying with it and just practice shooting. This gun is the more compact model which makes it a little smaller and lighter to carry. I especially like it for off duty wear as its not so bulky. Glock pistols are very reliable and can take a beating. They have been put through many vigorous tests and have not misfired. This pistol could not be an easier to use than to put the cartridgesd in the magazine and load and pull the trigger, there is a safety on the trigger which presses in as your finger is on it. I have pulled this apart to clean it and there is only approximately 3 parts on the inside to clean. The handle and casing is all plastic. I have also taken this pistol hunting with me in the woods as a back up just incase never used it but its always nice to have something there if you need it. Im very satisfied with this gun as I have tried other brands and models and this one seems to fit me best.

I am under the impression that the sheriff dept. issues the guns to the deputies. At least that's how it worked for my husband and he had to turn his in when he retired. Is it different in Vermont?
I do like this gun as it's easy to wipe down after use, which is important in my line of work. It's also easy to throw for those hairy situations when you just need to get rid of it quick.......
This seems like this is a perfect gun for your position as deputy sherrif.

I've carried a Sig P239 in .357SIG caliber for a number of years. Today I ordered a Glock 23 as the magazine capacity is nearly equal to 2 of the Sigs. I hope the Glock fills a void needed by this citizen.
