I thought this movie was fantastic. I have seen it several times now and aside from the fact that the main character, Coach Don Haskins, played by Josh Lucas, is gorgeous, the movie itself, even for someone who is not a basketball fan, is just really good. This movie portrays the Texas Miners, a small, unknown basketball team from the Texas Western University, who brings on Don Haskins as its new coach. In a move not only of desperation for a good, winning team, but also because he new talent when he saw it, he went out and recruited several black players for the team, despite the fact that no other teams around were playing more than 1 black player per game. Going against societies norms, he went on, with the help of his team to become champions and the struggles of winning games and fighting racism make for a great movie.
