Glucosamine Chondroitin Plus for dogs

My dog has intervertebral disc disease.
Once he was diagnosed I discussed supplements with his veterinarian, who stated that glucosamine and chondroitin could help to strengthen his healthy discs, which would take the pressure off of his damaged ones. It was possible that the supplements could also help to partially repair the prior damage.
While searching for the right supplement, I learned that glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate were more readily available to the body than regular glucosamine or chondroitin. I also learned that certain vitamins and minerals could also help to protect and repair bones and tissues.
Hoping to come across just the right supplement as giving a dog a daily pill or two is difficult enough, having to give him several pills would just not be reasonable.
