Go Go's 2nd Cd Vacation By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Vacation is the second album from the Go-Go's and a big letdown from their great debut album. While the bands playing and Belinda's voice seem to have matured somewhat, the songs just aren't of the same quality as those on their debut. Also missing, is the fun that permeated their debut album.

Regardless, the title song remains a high point in the bands career. Vacation is probably my favorite song by the band. Belinda's voice on the song is in great form, sounding confident and emotive. Unfortunately, that's the only great song on the disc. The rest aren't horrible, they are just mediocre.

Both Worlds Away and It's Anytime but Partytime are two of the better songs on the disc. They are both slower songs that take the listener to a place where they can relate to the meaning and atmosphere of the songs.

Some of the other songs like Beatnik Beach, Cool Jerk, and Get Up and Go are simply throwaway songs that would have been better suited as b-sides than being on this album.

All in all, not that great of a disc. I would skip it and get the song Vacation on one of their greatest hits discs.
