Go Natural With Burt's Bees Exfoliating Soap By Laurel1 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to exfoliate: to remove the dry dead outer layer so the fresh new skin cells beneath can breathe and glow. Burt's Bees makes a wonderful exfoliating shower soap for my body and yours.

I love Burt's Bees because of their use of natural ingredients. The Citrus Spice Exfoliating Shower Soap is 99.89% natural, and causes my sensitive skin no irritation at all. The 4 ounce bar cost $6, but it lasts much longer than most soaps I've tried. The soap is "all-vegetable" (suitable for Vegans) with glycerin for moisture and ground spices and herbs to provide a gentle but thorough exfoliation. It is scented with spices and essential oils, including orange, cinnamon, and patchouli. It lathers nicely and feels like it is massaging my skin when I use it. Burt's Bees claims that it leaves skin "refreshed and tingling" and I agree with that.

The only negative that I can find is that the price is slightly higher than the deodorant soaps that leave my skin dry and irritated -- but it's not an unreasonable price for a product that works this well. The scent of the patchouli might not appeal to everyone; patchouli seems to be one of those fragrances that you either love or hate. I love it, so this soap is perfect for me.

Remember that if you use this soap, or any exfoliating cleanser, you should moisturize your skin while it's still slightly damp. Because I have dry and sensitive skin, I only use this once or twice a week; the rest of the week I use a non-exfoliating, moisturizing soap. As the name "Shower Soap" implies, this product is not for facial use, but for your body.
