Good But Lengthy By Anessa on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

i thought the book East of eden by John steinbeck was alright. i was assigned to read it for a summer project. the content and everything was good but it was just way too long. i felt that the author's descriptions made the book boring at times and made the reader feel like not reading the book at all. there were good parts in the novel, however. i was asked tyo anayze quotes that impressed me throughout the story. the book is mainly an compiliation of the stories of people living in Salinas Valley. and through some strange fate, these lives are intertwined and linked to one another. in this story people learn many things such as accepting that sins are neither inevitable or predestined, but rather is a choice that we mere humans can make. the characters also learn to let go of the past and become free. i liked the text and content but the book was way too long. if u r looking for a good read and u don't mind the length, then i reccomend this book, East Of Eden by John Steinbeck.
